Maddox's 2nd Week

What a blessing this little guy is!  And Channing and Jaxson are so good with him- never jealous, constantly checking on him, kissing him, talking to him.  At around 1 week he slept 7 hours straight, and also had a night where he slept 5 hours.  But now we're pretty consistently waking up at 1:30am and 5am.... which is still pretty good.  I am feeling a little sleep deprived, but overall everything is really great.  He is growing everyday, and I fall more in love with him everyday.  I am finally remembering to call him "Maddox" instead of "Jaxson"... poor guy!

Channing and Jaxson are loving their little school at the Methodist Church, and the staff and teachers could not be nicer.  I LOVE them.  It is so good for them to get out of the house, they are learning so much, and it is good for me to have the little bit of time with the baby.  Jaxson goes Monday and Wed. from 9-2, and Channing goes Monday- Thursday.

I am pretty much over my c-section.  Feeling great and recovering so quickly.  I was worried this time because I really didn't exercise at all during my pregnancy, but I actually feel better than I did after Jaxson's delivery.  I did have some VERY painful moments in the hospital, and getting up the first few times was excruciating, but it's funny how quickly you forget those times.  Anyway, there is very little time for dwelling on anything in the past with 3 little ones at home.... it is full steam ahead at all times.  It starts early every morning with Channing and Jaxson coming to our room between 6:30am and 7am, and then it goes all day long (especially on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday when my energetic little 2 year old is home!)

My Mom, Sean, and Kristin came up last weekend to see the baby, and it was so nice to spend some time with them.  We also went to Grayson's 1st b-day party on Saturday, but I don't have any pics... I was holding Maddox the whole time.

My Maddox is 1 Week Old!

First of all, I can see why people say you enjoy the 3rd so much.  I am a newborn kind of mom anyway.... have been madly in love with Channing, Jaxson, and Maddox from the moment I heard them cry.  But with the first, you are paranoid about everything, with the 2nd you are guilty about the 1st feeling left out, but with Maddox, I feel so much more relaxed, and I just enjoy his every move, every facial expression, every noice.  It is pure bliss to me.  It helps that he is so good so far.... and I keep holding my breath waiting for the angry, screaming, colic crying.  So far, so good.  At one week he has already slept 4-5 hours at night more than once.  I feel great.... today anyway.  Some days I can cry and cry for no reason at all.  Channing says a sweet prayer at supper- I cry.  Jaxson cries for me when Paxton tries to help him- I cry.  I look at these pics of Maddox knowing that in a few months he will not look like this- I cry.  So much crying!  But this is my littlest man at 1 week.  So happy and blessed to have you Maddox Gray!

Our First Week Home With Maddox

Bringing Maddox home to a settled house, and knowing we weren't going to have to move, was a treat.  And finding that he was still a laid back, awesome baby at home was an even bigger treat.  We had family bring meals, and friends came to visit, and I think we have all enjoyed every minute of this.  Paxton took a few extra days to help me adjust, took Channing and Jaxson to run errands, and I got so much time those first few days to bond with Maddox.  On Monday, Feb. 14 we took him for his first check-up.  He was a textbook perfect newborn, cooperating with our new doctor (I LOVE her!), and was almost back up to his birth weight at 7lbs.  He made eye contact with her, and the only part that really hacked him off was the hip clicking, which looks miserably painful so I don't blame him one bit for screaming his head off.

All About Maddox Gray: Part 1

Monday, February 14, 2011

We have been home since Saturday, but there are so many pictures and so much news, I am going to break this into a couple of different posts.
Maddox was born on Wed., Feb. 9 at 11:46 am at Plano Presby.  He weighed 7lb 3oz and was 19 inches long.  He first measured much shorter, but I asked for a re-measure because I didn't think they got him very stretched out :) .  From the moment I heard his cry I knew I would love him as much as Channing and Jaxson, and when I saw his face I was immediately in tears.  He is beautiful, has a head full of soft, light brown hair, and everything about him is just perfect.  Or, at least, perfect to me.  Our delivery nurses, and of course my doctor (Doctor Garner), were all AWESOME, and made the entire experience even better.  Everything went according to plan, except for the snow and ice that came in the night before, causing lots of problems for lots of our family getting to the hospital.  My Dad and Deb came in and stayed with us the night before, so they were there, and Mack and MA came with Channing and Jaxson.  Then we had some of our amazing friends and family visit us throughout, an it was perfect.  I have to say, it was nice not having such a busy hospital room this time making much more time for rest and enjoying one another.  I cannot believe how quickly Channing and Jaxson bonded with Maddox.  They kept telling him how much they love him and how cute he is.  Paxton and I just kept smiling at one another.  Maddox was so laid back in the hospital, and still is now.  He nurses well, and OFTEN, but in between feedings is perfectly content so far.  Our nurses in recovery were wonderful as well, and it was almost sad to leave the hospital because they took such good care of us.  We got to leave as planned on Saturday- no jaundice, passed all of his tests, had plenty of dirty and wet diapers, etc.  Paxton brought the kids up to pick us up on Saturday morning, we stopped and got chick filet, picked up my prescriptions, and headed home.  More in the next post about our first few days at home.
